Description
HOW DOES A TRACTOR MOUNTED REAPER WORK AND HOW TO OPERATE REAPER FOR TRACTOR?
The power to different mechanisms is transmitted from the tractor PTO shaft through a gearbox by a long shaft running beneath the tractor body to the front and with the help of a universal joint and telescopic shaft, it is connected to the gearbox on the reaper. The power to the cutter bar is given from the crank provided at the lower end of the vertical shaft of the gearbox.
The conveyor belts get power from two pulleys provided on the right-hand side of the machine, which is connected with chains and sprockets to the vertical shaft of the gearbox. The star wheels run in mesh with the top conveyor belt in rack and pinion fashion.
Lugged V-belts are provided on crop row dividers for grinding the star wheels. Two rows of crop retaining springs are provided between two conveyor belts. The machine is suspended on the hydraulic system of the tractor with the help of parallel bar linkages and a wire rope pulley lifting system. The precise control of the height of the cut is achieved through the depth control lever of the tractor.
REQUIREMENT OF FIELD AND CROPS FOR HARVEST BY REAPER WITH TRACTOR
1. Field must be fairly level without undulation to facilitate smooth operations and uniform stubble length.
2. For small reapers & binders, plants must be grown in rows.
3. Field efficiency of harvesting machine is high in large fields.
4. Water control in rice fields is essential to ensure that the fields are drained and are relatively dry at harvest time.
